Leafs to Participate in Potential Record Breaking Winter Classic

The NHL announced today that the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs will participate in the 2013 Bridgestone Winter Classic On January 1st, at Michigan Stadium on the University of Michigan campus. Nicknamed, 'The Big House', this event is expected to break records in terms of attendance with the stadium holding over 115,000+ seats. This is the 6th Winter Classic, and the most exciting yet! The clash of these two traditionally-based original six teams will definitely make its way in the record books, one way or another. Since 2008 the Winter Classic has been played on or the day after New Year's day. The first game featured the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins at Ralph Wilson Stadium (Buffalo). In 2009, the Chicago Blackhawks hosted the Detroit Red Wings at Wrigley Field. In 2010, the Boston Bruins hosted the Flyers at Fenway Park. In 2011, the Pens hosted the Caps at Heinz Field. In 2012, the flyers hosted the Rangers at Citizens Bank Park. Don't miss out on this years Winter Classic as it's expected to be a doozy!
